Network Engineer

Access Northeast is a rapidly growing, regional managed services provider, with a focus on Colocation, Cloud, Internet, Hosting and WAN Management.  We also offer a suite of managed services products that include Disaster Recovery, VMware, Cloud, SAN, VOIP, IP Vaulting, Backups, Managed Security, MPLS, and Wireless – All delivered and managed out of our Marlborough, MA NOC & Data Center.

We’re looking for a talented Network Engineer to assist with backbone maintenance, in addition to interacting with hardware vendors and circuit carriers to design and troubleshoot complex network infrastructure issues.  In this position, you’ll need to have demonstrated expertise in advanced diagnostics with routers, switches and firewalls in medium to large network environments using BGP, OSPF, EIGRP & MPLS protocols. The ideal candidate will have a CCNP or demonstrated experience and performance at that level.  Additional responsibilities could be added for the right candidate based on experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years Cisco Networking Experience, Project Management, Network Design  and Implementation
  • Excellent Diagnostic, Hardware Configuration & Troubleshooting Skills
  • Service Provider / Multi-Tenant Customer Service Experience with a Positive, Upbeat Attitude.
  • Cisco 7200/7600 series routers, BGP, OSPF/ EIGRP, route redistribution, HSRP, MPLS
  • Cisco Catalyst series switches, (Layer 2/3),  High availability
  • Cisco ACS, TACACS, RADIUS
  • VoIP/QoS
  • Network security and management and monitoring tools knowledge

Essential Functions Include:

  • Establish and maintain backbone architecture by configuring/upgrading network gear, monitoring resources and troubleshooting network-related issues.
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting network environment; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with others on network team.
  • Maintaining Secure network by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
  • Assisting the Network Operation Center (NOC) team with complex customer networking and firewall issues
